The Journey Ahead
The systems we build now encode our assumptions about intelligence, and they will shape the decades to come.

Some books about AI are outdated before they leave the printer. Chi is not a book about artificial intelligence. It is a book about us: humans standing between biology and technology as mediators and creators, and about how we grow from an adolescent species into the parents of something new, a hybrid intelligence of human and artificial minds.
What I learned in my own relationships is what Chi wants to bring to the systems around us, at any scale. The systems we are building right now encode assumptions about intelligence that will shape the world for decades. Build them to treat intelligence as isolated, competitive and concentrated, build them for extraction and control, and that is the world that will emerge.
An upgrade, not a handover
Technology is accelerating faster than our ability to adapt. What we need is an upgrade to how we sense and make sense together: using technology without handing all our capabilities over to it. Chi is my contribution to that upgrade.
Relational intelligence is ancient. What is new is that we finally have the means to scale it beyond the immediate group. That is not a final goal. It is an invitation to build tools for exchange that treat intelligence as relational, participatory and distributed.
Enough movement
We have more information than we can know, more knowledge than wisdom, more possibilities than we can handle. A leap in human development looks inevitable. A world of Chi is not a prophecy. It is a worthwhile possibility.
It does not ask for certainty, unanimity or perfect models. It asks for enough movement to begin. So let us set out.
